Dear Friend,
My name is Marc and I admit it—I was a network marketing junkie! I spent
years looking for the best network marketing company for me because I knew if I found the right business, the
payoff would be HUGE.
I've seen the success stories of regular people who worked for three to five years building their network marketing
business and then quit their full-time jobs. I've met network marketing millionaires—people who live in
beautiful houses, work 10-20 hours a week in their MLM business and spend the rest of their time with their
families.
I know this lifestyle is possible—I've seen it with my own eyes. And I want the same thing for me and my family just
like you probably want for you and yours. So I started exploring network marketing companies years ago.
When it comes to MLM opportunities, I've seen them all and I've joined quite a few.
I've spent hundreds, maybe thousands, of dollars going from network marketing company to network marketing
company looking for the best business for me.
Why did I go through so many companies? Let's just say that when it comes to
network marketing companies, I've been to "the school of hard knocks". I've seen the good, the bad, and
the UGLY.
For example, one time I joined a brand new MLM that I thought was a perfect "ground-floor opportunity". I was
convinced I would make enough money that within a year I could quit my job. There was just one small problem,
though—the MLM company went out of business two months after I signed up (just my luck!).
Another company I was in had such fierce competition that I was constantly justifying why my products were
better than cheaper versions people were buying at the corner supermarket!
Then there's the one I got lured into by a "heavy hitter" who promised to "fill my downline" with all the
people he was recruiting. This meant I could get rich by doing hardly any work (or so I thought)!
I joined the company under the heavy hitter and he did put people in my downline,
but these people weren't building their business because they figured
the same thing I did—why work hard if the heavy hitter would do all the work for me? This company didn't
have a great product (that should have been my first clue) so needless to say, I lost money in that venture.
After years of researching plus painful trial and error I learned how to spot network marketing companies
with tell-tale "danger signs"—and I avoided those like the plague!
I also studied the most successful network marketing companies to figure out what made them so great. Before
long I had identified specific criteria that every top network marketing company possesses. I call these...
The 7 Characteristics of a Top Network Marketing Company
Maybe you've joined some MLM companies and had results similar to mine. Or maybe you're interested in network
marketing but you don't know how to find a company you can be passionate about.
I offer you this information to help in your research of the best network marketing company for you. I'd like
to save you the time and money I spent looking for a great MLM business opportunity. If you're serious about
working with only a top network marketing company, make sure it has all of the following
characteristics...
1. Offers a Service or Product You Would Use Anyway
This is by far the most important characteristic and it's one that took
me years to figure out. It's also amazingly simple: if there wasn't a business opportunity attached to the
service or product offered by the network marketing company, would you still buy the service or product?
If you're already in a network marketing opportunity, ask yourself that question.
If you hesitate for even a microsecond then you're in trouble. Why? Because it means if your company called
you up today and said, "Sorry, we no longer offer the business opportunity but you can still buy our service
or product" you'd probably cancel your membership or autoship orders immediately.
Therefore, the service or product of that company doesn't stand alone—it only
exists to create a business opportunity which in turn leads to serious customer retention problems.
People you sign up to do the business and who decide after a couple of months they aren't interested in the
business will also cancel their membership or autoship orders. You want the service or product to be so effective
and unique that these same people might stop doing the business...
But they wouldn't cancel their membership or autoship orders even if you begged them
to!
I've seen people offering business opportunities based on expensive products of questionable value and I can tell
right away that anyone making money in that business is doing it by selling the
business opportunity, not the product. Take the opportunity away and the product sales would collapse.
Not a good or sustainable business model.
If a network marketing company doesn't have a product or service that you wouldn't use as a wholesale customer or
member... DON'T JOIN!
2. No Competition
There are two different types of competition network marketing companies face—competition from other network
marketing companies and competition from similar businesses on the open market.
The most dangerous type of competition is competition on the open market.
The last thing you want a potential customer to say is, "I can get exactly the same thing from the store (or
online, or from Company X, etc.) for less." This is the kiss of death for your business.
There is no way you can compete and win against equal services or products that people can get elsewhere
(unless you're really just selling the business opportunity, in which case refer to #1 above).
The other type of competition is competition from other network marketing companies offering similar
products.
For instance, if your network marketing company is based on an exotic fruit juice then you must
compete with dozens of other network marketing companies offering other exotic fruit juices.
You'll need to learn your competitor's products in order to distinguish yours from theirs if a potential
customer asks you why yours is better. (What would you do if you researched the competition and discovered
that yours isn't better?)
Now, when I say "No Competition" that doesn't mean there aren't "wannabes" out there. It means that
no matter how hard your competitors try there is no way they can provide
substantially similar products or services for better prices than your company can.
Very few network marketing companies can claim they have no real competition, either from other network
marketing companies or from similar businesses on the open market—but a top network marketing company can!
3. Well-Established (at Least 5 Years)
Network marketing companies come and go. Some will promise you they'll be around for a hundred years and then
sputter out in a matter of months (trust me, I know!). That's why you don't want to pour your money and effort
into "the next big thing" or a company based on a fad or nifty new technology.
If someone offers you the chance to be in on a "ground floor opportunity"... RUN!
A top network marketing company doesn't have to convince you that they'll be
here years from now. They just need to show you their track record, and the longer the better.
Never join a company that's been around less than two years—it's just too risky.
In fact, I strongly recommend you only join a network marketing company that's
been around at least 5 years. This proves they have solid management and infrastructure to support long-term
growth.
The bad news is this characteristic alone eliminates 98% of all network marketing companies because most that
exist today are only a couple of years old (or less!). Join them at your own risk!
4. Huge Untapped Market
Another important characteristic of top network marketing companies is a huge untapped market. When I say huge,
I don't mean millions, I mean tens of millions.
You should avoid companies that offer special-purpose or niche products.
These are products that only a small segment of the population would consider buying.
For instance, some companies offer products and services for people who are interested in self-improvement.
These may be the greatest self-improvement products and services in the world, but probably fewer than 2 in 10
people might be interested in self-improvement and therefore would be your potential customers.
By choosing that company with such a narrow market you've effectively handicapped your ability to build a
thriving business. You would need to spend more money on marketing to find the few prospects who might be
interested in your products than you would if you had a larger market.
Ideally, your market should consist of every adult person you meet—unless they've already bought your
product, of course!
5. Low Start-Up Costs
A lot of network marketing companies try to generate revenue every time a new associate signs up by charging
them high start-up fees. Some companies charge $1000 to as much as $10,000 for
the privilege to market their products. I'm going to be blunt here, so forgive me,
But that's crazy!
Yes, all companies have costs they need to cover for every new associate who joins, including administration,
manuals, postage and in some cases, live training. But there's no way all of those things combined come close
to $1000, let alone more!
Don't let anyone try to convince you that the more you pay to join a company, the better the opportunity is.
There are many great network marketing companies which have start-up costs of $500 or less.
Start-up costs are non-refundable so you should never pay more than $500 to join a company in case you
later decide that this wasn't the right company for you.
6. No Inventory
Some product-based network marketing companies encourage you to keep a large amount of inventory on hand for
your customers. This works out great for your company and your customers, but
it's not such a good deal for you.
First of all, it's expensive—to have enough products available for your current and future customers
could cost you hundreds of dollars before you sell a single thing.
Second, it's a hassle. The last thing you want to do is turn your home or garage into a warehouse. Who
wants to store and track boxes of products? Plus, you may find yourself driving all over town delivering orders
for your customers—not much different than a pizza delivery driver, and almost as much fun!
Finally, it's embarrassing. When your friends and family come over to your place and see products stacked
to the rafters they won't think you're wildly successful, they'll think you've lost your marbles!
The top product-based network marketing companies have implemented autoship programs where customers order and
receive their products directly from the company. The customers have to pay extra to cover the costs of shipping
and handling but they receive their products on a regular basis which makes them happy and saves you a lot of
hassle.
So, if you're considering a product-based network marketing company, make sure it offers autoship and doesn't
require you to carry inventory.
7. Highly Consumable Products
What I'm about to tell you is extremely controversial and it might even make you angry. But if you want to
significantly improve your likelihood of success in network marketing, you
need to join a product-based company, not a service-based company. (Service-based network marketing
companies sell monthly service subscriptions such as legal services, phone services, Internet services, medical
services, etc.)
Service-based network marketing company associates may violently disagree with me and point to all the millionaires
from their company. I'm not saying it's impossible to succeed in a service-based to succeed in a service-based
network marketing company. I'm saying that if you are selling services through MLM...
You're leaving hundreds, even thousands, of dollars on the table!
Why? Because for the same amount of effort it took you to sell a single $19.95 monthly service, you could have sold
many hundreds of dollars worth of products. With a service-based business, your customers couldn't buy more of your
services even if they wanted to. All services are a flat rate.
With products, your customers can buy hundreds or thousands of dollars worth of products depending on their
needs or desires. If you want the same amount of sales in a service-based business you'll need to find a LOT more
customers.
But not all products in product-based network marketing companies are created
equal. Some products are much more consumable than others. For instance, there's a famous network marketing
company that offers very high quality soaps and cleaners.
Where's the problem?
Well, these products are so super-concentrated that it might take customers months or even
years to consume one bottle. That's very economical for the customer but it's a disaster for you if you're
interested in creating consistent monthly income for yourself.
You need products that get consumed entirely every month—and nutritional supplements are the best
products for network marketers because of that very reason. Nutritional products are highly consumable and if they
are effective your customers will want to buy LOTS of them to consume for themselves and share with others.
That's probably why the company I mentioned before with the great soaps and cleaners focuses so much attention on
their nutritional products!
So there you have it, the 7 characteristics of a top network marketing company!
There are a lot of companies that have some of these characteristics and a few have most of these
characteristics, but believe it or not...
There is only ONE network marketing company that has ALL of these
characteristics!
This is a company that:
- Offers an incredibly effective nutritional weight loss system—I lost 31 pounds myself! See my before and after
photos on the next page
- Has highly-consumable products—I've had LOTS of wholesale customers (not network marketers) order hundreds
of dollars worth of products over and over again because they're so effective!
- Has no competition offering the same or similar products at the same prices
- Has been in business for more than 6 years
- Has a huge untapped market for these products
- Has low start-up costs
- Requires no inventory
This company generated $192 million in revenue in 2007.
It has also created 25 26 millionaires—and is on track
to produce many more!
